Malone, NY – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 7 a.m. Sunday to 7 a.m. Monday for much of northern New York, where a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is expected to make travel hazardous.

According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, counties including St. Lawrence, Franklin, Clinton, and Essex are forecast to receive 1 to 2 inches of snow and sleet, with ice accumulations up to one-tenth of an inch possible.

The wintry mix will begin early Sunday morning, becoming widespread through the afternoon before tapering off Monday morning. Temperatures near 32°F will make icing likely on roads, bridges, and overpasses, especially during the Monday morning commute.

Motorists are urged to slow down and use caution, as slippery conditions are likely on untreated and elevated surfaces.
