Berlin, N.H. – A sharp overnight chill is moving into the mountains of northern New England, where a Frost Advisory will be in effect early Tuesday morning. Overnight lows are expected to dip near 34 degrees, cold enough to damage or kill tender plants if left uncovered.

According to the National Weather Service in Gray, the advisory runs from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Tuesday for Northern Oxford County in Maine along with both Northern and Southern Coos counties in New Hampshire. Towns including Berlin, Errol, Lancaster, Colebrook, and South Arm are all within the advisory area.

Gardeners are urged to take precautions before bedtime by covering crops or bringing potted plants inside. Rural valleys and sheltered mountain spots will see the coldest conditions, where frost is most likely to form.

Drivers may also encounter frosted windshields early Tuesday, particularly in shaded areas, leading to slow starts on the morning commute. While sunshine will bring temperatures back into the 60s during the afternoon, forecasters caution that more nights near freezing are possible later this week.
