Berlin, N.H. – A frost advisory remains in place for northern New Hampshire and western Maine through 8 a.m. Tuesday, with temperatures dipping into the lower 30s overnight. Residents from Berlin to Oxford County woke up to cold air more typical of October than early September.

According to the National Weather Service in Gray, Maine, frost is likely across Northern Oxford County in Maine and both Northern and Southern Coos counties in New Hampshire. Conditions may damage or kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if plants are not protected.

Berlin, Errol, Colebrook, and Lancaster are among the towns most at risk, with gardeners urged to cover plants or bring them inside. Roads remain clear, but the sudden chill could surprise early commuters heading out before sunrise.

Officials recommend taking simple precautions such as using plant covers or moving potted plants indoors to avoid losses. While the advisory expires by mid-morning, more chilly nights could follow later this week as cooler Canadian air settles into northern New England.

Frost advisories remain in effect until 8 a.m. Tuesday, and updates from the National Weather Service are expected if colder conditions persist.
