Reno, NV – Residents across northern Nevada should prepare for changing weather conditions this week, with showers and thunderstorms expected to return by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service Reno, a second tropical moisture push will arrive between Monday and Wednesday, increasing the chances of widespread rainfall and isolated storms across Washoe County, the Sierra, and portions of northeast California.

Sunday will bring a 15–20% chance of thunderstorms in Mono and Mineral counties, extending into northeast California and northern Washoe County. By Monday, conditions are forecast to be warm and dry, with highs in the mid-80s for valleys and 70s for mountain areas.

Tuesday is expected to remain mostly dry, though forecasters note a slight chance (under 15%) of showers late in the evening. Temperatures will again reach the mid-80s in valleys and upper 70s in mountain regions.

The most significant change arrives Wednesday, when a 15–35% chance of widespread showers and thunderstorms is predicted. Temperatures will remain steady, with highs in the mid-80s for valleys and upper 70s in the mountains.

Officials caution residents to stay aware of storm development. “When thunder roars, go indoors,” NWS Reno reminded. Another surge of tropical moisture later in the week may bring additional rainfall and uncertainty in the forecast.
