Great Falls, MT – The National Weather Service Great Falls has issued a High Wind Warning for parts of northern Montana, where damaging gusts are expected Sunday.
The warning is in effect from 6 AM to 9 PM MDT Sunday for Eastern Glacier, Western Toole, and Central Pondera Counties, including the communities of Cut Bank, Ethridge, and Santa Rita.
Forecasters expect southwest winds of 30–40 mph, with gusts reaching up to 65 mph. These strong winds may move loose debris, damage property, and lead to isolated power outages. Travel could be difficult for high-profile vehicles, especially along open stretches of U.S. Highway 2 and other north-south routes.
Residents are urged to secure outdoor items such as decorations, trash bins, or lightweight furniture to prevent damage or injury.
Winds are expected to ease Sunday night as the weather system moves east across Montana.
