Duluth, MN – Northern Minnesota could see a wintry start to Halloween as a rain and snow mix develops late Thursday night into early Friday morning before transitioning to all rain by midday.
According to the US National Weather Service Duluth, moisture moving into cooler air overnight will cause light snow or mixed precipitation across the region between 3 a.m. and 8 a.m. Friday, particularly in areas north and west of Duluth, including Ely, Grand Marais, and Hinckley.
As temperatures rise into the mid to upper 40s by Friday afternoon, the mix will change to steady rain, lasting into Friday evening. Winds will remain mostly light, though gusts up to 20 mph are possible along the North Shore.
Accumulation is not expected, but slick spots could briefly form on elevated or untreated roads early Friday morning before conditions warm.
Saturday and Sunday will trend drier and slightly cooler, with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s and partly cloudy skies.
