Duluth, MN – Mild and dry conditions continue across the Northland today, but a noticeable shift arrives by Friday night as a cold front brings stronger winds and cooler temperatures, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Duluth.

According to NWS forecasters, highs Thursday will range from the low 40s in far northern Minnesota to the low 50s farther south. Skies remain mostly sunny, and winds are expected to gradually decrease through the afternoon. The quiet pattern holds through most of Friday before changes move in late in the day.

A cold front will sweep through Friday night into early Saturday, bringing a 10% to 30% chance of light rain across the region. While precipitation appears limited, the bigger impact will come from strengthening northwest winds behind the front. Gusts could reach 25 to 35 mph, especially on Saturday, making for a brisk and cooler weekend.

Temperatures Saturday will top out between the upper 30s and low 50s, depending on location. Sunday will be cooler still, with highs settling in the low 30s to low 40s—near normal for mid-November.

Forecasters say the pattern remains dry heading into early next week as temperatures continue to hover around seasonal averages. No significant storm systems are currently expected through at least midweek.

Residents planning outdoor activities this weekend should be prepared for windy conditions, particularly in open areas and near Lake Superior where gusts may be strongest.
