Duluth, Minn. – Gardeners and campers across northern Minnesota should prepare for a chilly night as a Frost Advisory remains in effect from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Monday, with temperatures expected to fall near freezing. Sensitive plants and late-summer crops could be damaged if left uncovered.
According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, the advisory covers Koochiching, Central and North St. Louis, and Northern Cook and Lake Counties. That includes Ely, International Falls, Hibbing, Isabella, Voyageurs National Park, and the entire Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. The advisory also extends to the Bois Forte Band tribal lands near Nett Lake and Lake Vermilion.
Overnight lows could dip to 33 degrees, creating widespread frost across open areas. Residents are urged to cover gardens, bring potted plants indoors, and protect any sensitive vegetation. Those camping in the Boundary Waters should be prepared for cold morning conditions.
Temperatures are expected to rebound by midmorning Monday, ending the frost threat. However, forecasters caution that additional advisories could follow later this week if clear skies and calm winds return overnight.
