Duluth, Minn. – Steady showers and scattered rumbles of thunder are keeping parts of northern Minnesota soggy Monday, with radar showing up to 2 inches of rainfall in the Arrowhead. Grand Marais already picked up 0.82 inches by mid-morning, raising concerns for wet roads and reduced visibility.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, the storms have been nearly stationary over the same area since early morning, leaving behind pockets of heavy rainfall. While the intensity has generally stayed light to moderate, meteorologists say the showers could persist into the afternoon and slowly drift southwest.

The Arrowhead, including Cook and Lake counties, is seeing the most persistent rain, though lighter bands may extend toward Duluth and the North Shore as the day progresses. Forecasters stress that no flooding concerns are expected at this time, but drivers should prepare for slick travel conditions, especially on rural highways and near Lake Superior.

Residents are advised to keep an eye on changing radar trends as the showers may continue off and on through the evening.
