Duluth, Minnesota – Parts of northern Minnesota could see renewed rain relief starting Thursday, with a stronger and more widespread system arriving by Sunday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, the first round of showers is expected between mid-morning Thursday and early Friday, primarily targeting the southern half of the Northland. Rainfall probabilities range from 11% in the north to 45% near Brainerd and Hinckley, where isolated thunderstorms may also develop.

A second system beginning Sunday evening could deliver more significant rainfall through Tuesday, impacting a broader swath of the state. Much of the Northland has a 20% to 40% chance of receiving a quarter-inch or more of rain, with heavier amounts possible in areas that experience strong to severe thunderstorms.

Residents in areas like Duluth, Cloquet, and Grand Rapids should prepare for changing travel conditions and keep an eye on local alerts. If thunderstorms intensify, flash flooding or downed power lines may become concerns early next week.

Rain chances remain in place through Tuesday, with updated advisories likely as the system develops. Keep NOAA Weather Radio or your local alert system active for real-time warnings.
