Duluth, Minn. – Northern Minnesota will stay damp through the weekend as slow-moving low pressure keeps rain showers drifting across the region. Commuters and outdoor plans may face disruptions, particularly Saturday, when rain chances peak at 50 to 60 percent in parts of the Northland.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, the unsettled pattern will persist until Sunday as the low-pressure system lingers along the Dakotas-Minnesota border. Most areas are expected to pick up at least a quarter inch of rain, with the heaviest totals—up to an inch—likely from the Brainerd Lakes east into northwest Wisconsin. Duluth, Hibbing, and Superior will see occasional rainfall but should avoid severe storms.

Roadways could become slick during heavier bursts, and travelers are advised to watch for reduced visibility in rural stretches. While no flooding or severe weather is anticipated, isolated rumbles of thunder may accompany the rain at times. By late Sunday, the system weakens as it slides into Ontario, leading to drier conditions across Minnesota to start the new week.

Showers are expected to taper gradually, though residents should remain alert for additional advisories if rainfall rates increase unexpectedly.
