Duluth, Minnesota – Easter Sunday travel across northern Minnesota could become slick at times as periods of snow and mixed precipitation develop, especially near Lake Superior and across the Iron Range.
According to the National Weather Service, this 6-to-10 day outlook favors above-normal precipitation across the Upper Midwest, with colder air holding across northern Minnesota and supporting snow or rain-to-snow transitions, particularly overnight.
In Duluth, Hibbing, Ely, and International Falls, light snow is possible during early morning hours Sunday and again through midweek, with temperatures dipping into the low 30s overnight. Roads such as U.S. Highway 53, U.S. 2, and stretches of I-35 near Duluth may become slushy or briefly snow-covered, especially on untreated surfaces.
Across the Iron Range and Arrowhead region, mixed precipitation may develop at times, with rain changing to wet snow during colder periods. Slushy accumulation is possible on bridges, overpasses, and less-traveled roads.
Daytime temperatures will trend near normal, allowing for partial melting but keeping conditions damp and messy for Easter travel and outdoor activities.
Snow and mixed precipitation chances continue through April 9, and additional advisories may be issued as confidence increases in timing and localized impacts.
