Gaylord, MI – A winter storm is set to bring heavy snow and bitter cold to northern Michigan this weekend, making travel hazardous.

According to the National Weather Service, snow showers will increase Saturday, with an 80% chance of accumulation and gusty winds. Expect a high of 24°F, with wind chills making it feel much colder. Snow will continue into Saturday night, with up to two inches of fresh accumulation.

Sunday will see a 30% chance of lingering snow showers and highs near 21°F. Overnight temperatures will plummet to 7°F. Monday offers some relief, with partly sunny skies and a high of 22°F, but another cold night will drop temperatures to 6°F.

Drivers should exercise caution, particularly along I-75 and local highways, where blowing snow may reduce visibility. Anyone venturing outdoors should dress in layers and limit exposure to the cold.

More snow is possible next week, with a chance of flurries Tuesday and lows dipping below zero. Stay updated on weather conditions and prepare for winter travel delays.
