Gaylord, MI – A winter weather advisory is in effect for parts of Northern Lower Michigan and Eastern Upper Michigan, with snow and high winds creating hazardous conditions through late Monday evening.
According to the National Weather Service, the advisory will remain active until 1 a.m. Tuesday for Northern Lower Michigan and 10 p.m. Monday for Eastern Upper Michigan. Additional snow accumulations of up to 3 inches are expected, with winds gusting as high as 45 mph. The combination of snow and strong winds will lead to significant blowing and drifting snow, making travel dangerous.
The advisory impacts several counties, including Emmet, Cheboygan, Alpena, and Grand Traverse in Northern Lower Michigan, as well as Chippewa and Mackinac in the Upper Peninsula. Roads, especially bridges and overpasses, are likely to become slick and icy, potentially affecting Monday evening commutes.
Residents are advised to slow down and use caution while traveling. Those venturing outside should also be mindful of icy stairs, sidewalks, and driveways to prevent injuries.
