Gaylord, MI – Strong winds whip across wet pavement this Sunday morning as widespread showers continue over Northern Lower Michigan. Motorists and early risers should brace for gusts reaching 30 to 35 mph, especially near Lake Michigan shorelines, before conditions ease later today. The National Weather Service in Gaylord warns of reduced visibility and slick roads through the afternoon, urging drivers to slow down and secure any loose outdoor items.

According to the National Weather Service, rain showers will gradually taper west to east by late Sunday evening. Temperatures will fall through the 50s into the upper 40s, with northwest winds keeping conditions brisk. Monday looks like the brief calm between systems — mostly sunny skies return, but highs stay near 56°F before clouds build again late in the day.

By Tuesday, another system brings widespread showers and gusts up to 25 mph. The air turns cooler, with highs only in the low 50s and lows dipping near 38°F. Forecasters say this could mark the season’s first hint of frost by midweek, especially inland from the lakes.

For residents planning yard work or Halloween decorating, Monday remains the best window before the next round of rain arrives. By late week, highs may struggle to reach the mid-40s — a clear sign Michigan’s early winter chill is setting in.
