Gaylord, Mich. – Scattered showers will give way to a wetter pattern this weekend in northern Michigan, with thunderstorms expected to develop Sunday and linger into early next week. Drivers and boaters should prepare for changing conditions as rain chances increase across Otsego County and surrounding areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, showers will be light and scattered Friday, with highs in the mid-60s. Saturday remains partly sunny, but a round of evening showers could arrive, mainly after 8 p.m. The bigger concern comes Sunday, when thunderstorms are possible after midday. Forecasters say storms may bring heavy downpours and gusty winds, with rain chances near 50 percent.

Communities from Boyne Falls to Vanderbilt could see slick roads Sunday afternoon, while outdoor events may face interruptions. Those heading north on I-75 should watch for reduced visibility in heavy rain.

The unsettled pattern continues into Monday, with more showers expected and highs in the low 70s. Residents are advised to keep phones charged and check updates before traveling, as additional advisories may be issued if stronger storms develop.

Showers and storm chances hold through Tuesday, with drier weather slowly returning by midweek.
