Marquette, MI – Upper Michigan will see a mix of summer-like heat and storm chances this weekend before a major cold front brings fall-like conditions early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Friday afternoon, but overall the region will remain mostly dry. Temperatures will rise into the low 80s, with some locations potentially breaking daily records. Overnight lows will remain in the mid-50s to mid-60s, adding to the humid conditions.

Saturday is forecast to be breezy and warm, with highs ranging from 78 to 88 degrees. Sunday will continue the stretch of unseasonably warm weather, though increasing winds are expected ahead of an approaching cold front. Highs will reach the upper 70s to low 80s, but stronger gusts may make outdoor activities more challenging.

By Monday, forecasters say conditions will change rapidly. A cold front will sweep through the Upper Peninsula, dropping daytime highs into the upper 50s and 60s, with nighttime lows dipping into the 30s. Tuesday will reinforce the fall-like shift, with highs only in the mid-50s to low 60s and scattered rain possible.

The weather service notes that the warm, humid air in place Friday and Saturday could fuel thunderstorms capable of locally heavy rain, though widespread severe weather is not expected.

Travelers and outdoor planners across Marquette County, the U.P., and surrounding northern Michigan communities should prepare for a sharp cooldown after the weekend.
