Gaylord, MI – Northern Michigan will see a fast-changing stretch of weather heading into Thanksgiving, with breezy conditions today, rain returning Tuesday, and a windy rain-to-snow transition arriving Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service in Gaylord.

Forecasters say scattered morning showers will taper off today, leaving breezy but milder-than-normal conditions for late November. Highs range from 40 to 48 degrees, with winds adding a brisk feel across the region. Tonight turns partly cloudy, with lows falling to 28–36 degrees.

Monday brings mostly cloudy skies and another mild afternoon, with highs between 47 and 52 degrees. The dry start to the week comes to an end on Tuesday, when rain becomes likely—especially after midday. Temperatures will again sit above average, topping out in the mid-40s to low 50s.

Wednesday is shaping up to be the region’s weather transition day, according to the National Weather Service. A strong push of cold air combined with gusty winds will drop temperatures quickly through the afternoon. Rain will mix with and change to snow, particularly during the latter part of the day and into the evening. Travel conditions may deteriorate as wet roads turn slushy or slick in spots.

By Thanksgiving, colder air settles in for good, and snow chances continue through the holiday and the days that follow. Exact snowfall amounts remain uncertain but will depend on how quickly temperatures fall Wednesday and how lake-effect bands set up later in the week.
