Gaylord, Michigan – Skies will clear across northern Michigan today as lingering light showers taper off, giving way to dry, partly cloudy conditions and a warming trend that stretches through midweek.
According to the National Weather Service office in Gaylord, morning rain will diminish quickly, leaving Saturday with highs in the mid-70s and no further precipitation expected through at least Wednesday. Daytime temperatures are expected to rise steadily from the upper 60s today to the upper 80s by Tuesday across much of northern Lower Michigan and the eastern U.P.
Cities like Petoskey, Traverse City, and Alpena should see a mix of sun and clouds Sunday, with highs pushing 80°F. By Monday and Tuesday, inland areas may reach 83–87°F, particularly along US-131 and M-32 corridors. While the weather will remain dry, residents are advised to stay hydrated and limit outdoor work during peak afternoon heat hours.
This stretch marks the first sustained warmup of June after a cooler start to the month, with no rain in sight until late next week.
Warming conditions continue through Wednesday, with updated outlooks expected Monday morning.
