Marquette, MI – Northern Michigan will see a stretch of unsettled weather through midweek, with a mix of rain and snow showers expected across both the Upper and northern Lower Peninsulas, according to the National Weather Service offices in Marquette and Gaylord.

Forecasters say temperatures will rise back above freezing Tuesday, bringing scattered rain and snow showers across Upper Michigan. Highs will range from the upper 30s to mid-40s, with overnight lows in the 20s and low 30s. Little to no new snow accumulation is expected due to the milder air.

In northern Lower Michigan, a slow-moving low-pressure system will keep rain and snow showers likely into Wednesday evening. Slushy accumulations of an inch or less are possible in higher elevations, particularly in Gaylord and eastern Upper Michigan, while most areas will turn rain-dominant by midweek.

Wednesday will also be breezy, with wind gusts up to 40 mph along Lake Superior, prompting a Gale Warning for shoreline areas. By Thursday, conditions are forecast to improve, with highs nearing 50 degrees and partly sunny skies returning for much of the region.

Motorists should use caution during periods of rain-snow mix and strong winds, especially near open shoreline routes and higher terrain.
