Gaylord, Michigan – Wet roads and reduced visibility will impact drivers overnight as rain pushes west to east across northern Michigan, continuing into the early Thursday commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, steady rain develops this evening with temperatures holding between 35 and 45 degrees. Breezy conditions could add to travel concerns, especially on rural roads and higher elevations where ponding may occur before sunrise.

Rain lingers into Thursday morning, with showers tapering off by late morning and skies gradually clearing into the afternoon. High temperatures will reach between 42 and 58 degrees across northern lower Michigan, including Traverse City, Petoskey, and Gaylord.

Another round of unsettled weather arrives Thursday night into early Friday, with a mix of rain and wet snow possible. While significant accumulation is not expected, slick spots could develop on bridges and untreated roads during the early morning hours Friday.

Conditions improve heading into Saturday with mostly sunny skies and highs ranging from the mid-40s to upper 50s.

Drivers should allow extra travel time overnight into Thursday morning and stay alert for changing conditions late Thursday night as colder air returns.
