Gaylord, MI – Residents across northern Michigan and the eastern Upper Peninsula can expect off-and-on snow chances to continue through next week, though snowfall amounts are expected to remain on the lighter side.
According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, periodic snow showers will affect the region through the weekend and into early next week, with no significant accumulation currently forecast. Forecasters say a warming trend will gradually develop beginning this weekend, helping limit snow totals despite continued chances.
Thursday night temperatures are expected to fall between 0 and 11 degrees, with light to moderate lake-effect snow showers possible, particularly over parts of the eastern Upper Peninsula. Localized heavier bands may develop at times, though widespread impacts are not anticipated.
On Friday, lingering light snow showers are expected to taper off during the afternoon, with highs ranging from 18 to 24 degrees. Snow chances return Friday night into Saturday, when widespread light snow is possible and temperatures climb into the upper teens to mid-20s.
Conditions improve slightly on Sunday, with partly cloudy skies expected and highs near 19 to 27 degrees. By Monday, temperatures are forecast to rise further, reaching 27 to 33 degrees, as light to moderate snow chances redevelop across parts of northern Michigan.
While snowfall amounts are forecast to stay minimal, drivers should remain cautious during overnight and early morning hours, when slick roads may develop due to fluctuating temperatures and brief snow showers.
The National Weather Service encourages residents to monitor updated forecasts, especially those traveling during periods of lake-effect snow.
