Gaylord, Michigan – Rain is set to arrive quickly overnight, with heavier downpours developing after midnight and creating slick roads by early Sunday morning across northern Michigan.
According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, dry and partly sunny conditions hold through Saturday with highs in the mid-40s to mid-50s. Clouds increase this evening, followed by widespread rain developing late tonight, with the heaviest rainfall expected through Sunday.
Cities including Gaylord, Petoskey, Alpena, and Traverse City could see steady rain and a few embedded thunderstorms Sunday, with highs warming into the 50s and 60s. Roadways like I-75 and U.S. 131 may become hazardous during periods of heavier rain, especially during the morning and early afternoon hours.
After a brief break Monday, another round of showers and storms is expected Tuesday, signaling a more active weather pattern heading into next week. Temperatures will also trend warmer, climbing above normal levels.
Residents should prepare for wet travel late tonight into Sunday, allow extra time on the roads, and stay alert for changing conditions as additional rain chances return early next week.
