Gaylord, MI – Northern Michigan residents can expect a shift toward warmer, summer-like weather beginning Friday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Gaylord.
Other than a few showers or possible thunderstorms in eastern Upper Michigan late Thursday night into Friday, forecasters say dry conditions will dominate the region into early next week.
According to the NWS, temperatures will rise into the mid-70s Friday and climb into the low-to-mid-80s across many areas Saturday and Sunday. The return of late-season heat is expected to bring several locations above 80 degrees, a noticeable contrast to the seasonably mild weather earlier this week.
The extended outlook shows plenty of sunshine, with highs ranging from the upper 70s to low 80s through Monday. Overnight lows will be cooler, mainly in the 50s, providing some relief from the daytime warmth.
Forecasters note that the biggest weather story will be the dry stretch, which is expected to hold through the weekend. This will give residents and visitors a chance to enjoy outdoor activities without the threat of widespread rain.
Motorists and event planners should prepare for warmer afternoons and continued dry roads. Those sensitive to heat are advised to take precautions as above-normal temperatures return.
