Gaylord, MI – A winter weather advisory is in effect for Northern Lower Michigan through 7 a.m. Thursday, with snow accumulations between 4 and 6 inches expected. The National Weather Service warns of hazardous road conditions, particularly on bridges and overpasses, which could make travel difficult.
According to the National Weather Service, snow will begin Wednesday afternoon, intensifying overnight. Wind gusts up to 30 mph will create blowing and drifting snow, reducing visibility for drivers. Commutes on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning could be especially dangerous.
Thursday will see additional snow showers, tapering off by the evening. Temperatures will remain cold, with lows near 8°F and wind chills making it feel even colder.
Looking ahead, light to moderate snow is expected Friday night, with lake-effect snow possible Sunday into Monday. Those traveling for Valentine’s weekend should prepare for slippery roads and fluctuating visibility.
Drivers are advised to slow down, allow extra travel time, and stay updated on road conditions. Pedestrians should take caution on icy sidewalks and steps to avoid falls. For the latest updates, visit weather.gov/gaylord.
