Gaylord, MI – The National Weather Service has issued multiple Winter Weather Advisories across northern Michigan, effective Monday night through Tuesday afternoon, warning of snow accumulations up to 7 inches and gusty winds leading to hazardous travel conditions.
According to the NWS Gaylord office, advisories cover Leelanau, Benzie, Manistee, Mackinac, Chippewa, and Beaver Island regions. Snowfall totals are expected to range from 3 to 7 inches, with localized higher amounts near Eckerman and Trout Lake in western Chippewa County.
Winds gusting up to 35 mph will produce blowing and drifting snow, creating periods of low visibility and potential whiteout conditions, particularly along the US-2 corridor and I-75.
Travelers should plan for slippery roads and reduced visibility from Monday evening through Tuesday morning. The heaviest snow is expected overnight, tapering off by Tuesday afternoon. Motorists are urged to slow down, carry a winter emergency kit, and monitor local road updates before heading out.
