Gaylord, Michigan – Skies over Northern Michigan will turn hazy by early afternoon Wednesday, July 30, as wildfire smoke drifts into the region. Visibility may drop, especially along US-131 and M-32 corridors, prompting caution for drivers and those with respiratory conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, areas of smoke are expected between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. Wednesday, with northerly winds between 5 to 10 mph helping to disperse smoke overnight. While no hazardous weather is forecast, those with asthma or breathing issues should limit outdoor activity until skies clear.

Temperatures on Wednesday will hold near 75°F under partly sunny skies, offering a cooler reprieve from the early-week heat. Winds will be light, and no rainfall is expected.

By Thursday, sunshine dominates as highs top out near 72°F. The clear, calm weather continues into the weekend, with highs reaching the upper 70s by Saturday and Sunday — ideal for outdoor plans in Otsego County and surrounding areas.

Despite the midweek haze, no active weather warnings are in effect. Still, travelers and outdoor workers should monitor air quality levels and visibility, particularly in low-lying areas.
