Gaylord, MI – Snowfall in northern Michigan has prompted hazardous driving conditions as a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect. Counties including Iosco, Presque Isle, Gladwin, and Arenac are expected to see an additional 1 to 3 inches of snow accumulation by early afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory will remain active until 1 p.m. Friday, warning that bridges and overpasses may become particularly slick. Drivers are urged to slow down, use caution, and allow extra time for travel during morning and midday commutes.

Beyond today’s snowfall, a cold weekend lies ahead for northern Michigan. Saturday brings partly cloudy skies with highs near 30°F, but brisk winds could make it feel significantly colder. Sunday offers some relief, with temperatures climbing to the mid-30s and light snow showers possible in the evening.

The extended forecast shows a mix of conditions for the upcoming week. Monday starts cloudy but dry, with highs around 34°F. A new weather system could move in Tuesday, bringing light snow and freezing rain, potentially impacting travel once again.

Residents are advised to monitor weather updates and prepare for slippery roads throughout the weekend. Keep emergency kits stocked with essentials, and ensure vehicles are equipped for winter driving.
