Gaylord, MI – Northern Michigan residents should prepare for an early taste of winter as temperatures plunge this week. According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Gaylord, overnight lows will dip into the 30s tonight and could fall to the 20s by Wednesday night.

Forecasters warn of chilly nights, with low temperatures reaching as far down as 31 degrees in Cadillac and 32 degrees in Gaylord. Coastal areas like Traverse City will see lows near 44 degrees. Inland, temperatures will drop to the low 30s, while areas around Rogers City may see lows closer to 46 degrees.

The weather service advises residents to protect sensitive plants and dress warmly for early morning and late evening hours. Frost is likely in many areas, particularly those farther inland. This weather pattern marks an abrupt shift from recent mild conditions and serves as a reminder of the approaching winter season.

The cold front is expected to linger, bringing more freezing nights throughout the week. Residents are encouraged to monitor forecasts and take precautions as temperatures continue to drop.
