Gaylord, MI – Strong winds and accumulating snow will impact Michigan on Friday, bringing hazardous travel conditions and dangerously low wind chills. Residents should prepare for gusts up to 40 mph and new snowfall, especially in northern and western parts of the state.

According to the National Weather Service, lake-effect snow is expected to develop late Thursday and continue into the weekend. Wind chills could drop to -7°F, creating dangerous conditions for those outdoors. Additional snow accumulation is likely Saturday and Sunday, with an 80% chance of precipitation.

Friday’s high will reach 18°F with mostly cloudy skies. Snow showers will return Saturday afternoon, bringing another round of accumulation. Road conditions will be slippery, especially along I-75 and U.S. Route 131, where blowing snow may reduce visibility.

Drivers should use caution and check for updated road conditions. Those traveling Friday night should expect wind gusts up to 30 mph. The coldest temperatures arrive early next week, with lows dropping to single digits.
