Northern Michigan – Northern Michigan beachgoers should take precautions as high swim risks are forecasted for Sunday. While today offers mostly sunny skies with calm waters, conditions will worsen Sunday with waves reaching up to six feet along both Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.
According to the National Weather Service, the increased wave heights pose significant dangers, especially for swimmers. Those planning to visit the beach are strongly advised to avoid entering the water on Sunday. The swim risk level will be elevated to “high,” meaning wave and current conditions could be life-threatening.
On Labor Day, beach conditions will improve with lower swim risks, but caution is still urged. Officials recommend staying out of the water during high-risk periods, using life jackets, and staying informed about current beach conditions through the National Weather Service updates.
