Caribou, Maine – Steady rainfall will soak much of Maine beginning early Saturday, with over an inch possible in the Downeast region and spotty showers lingering into Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, rain will begin after midnight in the north and spread southward by Saturday morning. The heaviest totals—up to 1.5 inches—are expected across the Central Highlands and coastal areas, while northern zones like Fort Kent and Madawaska could see less than half an inch due to scattered patterns.
Rain will taper off Sunday, but another round of showers and thunderstorms is expected to return Monday night into Tuesday. The persistent wet weather could cause ponding on roads and minor travel delays, especially in low-lying or poorly drained areas. Drivers are urged to slow down and watch for slick spots.
Lows Friday night will dip into the upper 40s and low 50s across much of the state, with warmer, more humid air pushing in next week. Residents should plan for changing conditions and prepare for possible thunderstorm activity by midweek.
Rain remains in the forecast through early Sunday, with more updates expected as the next system approaches.
