Caribou, ME – After a brief warm-up Saturday, Northern Maine is in for a colder, more unsettled stretch as another storm system approaches late Sunday.

According to the US National Weather Service Caribou, precipitation will taper off early Saturday morning, giving way to drier and breezy weather this afternoon. Highs are expected to reach the 50s across central and coastal Maine, while northern areas remain cooler.

A cold front will move in later today, dropping overnight lows into the teens and mid-20s across much of the region. Sunday will stay dry for most areas, with highs only in the 30s north and low 40s Downeast.

The next storm system arrives Sunday evening, bringing light snow to the north and rain Downeast. Forecasters expect snowfall amounts of less than one inch, mainly across higher terrain, before temperatures warm Monday, turning all precipitation to rain.

Travel impacts should remain limited, but slick spots are possible early Monday, particularly in northern valleys and shaded areas.
