Caribou, ME — Northern Maine residents woke up to light snow showers Friday morning as a cold front moved through, with conditions expected to remain cold but mostly sunny throughout the day. Highs will range from the upper 20s to mid 40s, with the coldest temperatures in the north and slightly warmer air near the coast.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, snow showers will leave up to an inch of accumulation across the northern region. Tonight, skies will clear, and temperatures will drop sharply, with lows ranging from near 10°F in the far north to the mid 20s Downeast.

Saturday will bring limited sunshine, especially in the north, where high clouds may obscure views of a partial solar eclipse at 6:17 a.m. Some light snow is possible over southern Maine by evening. Highs will stay in the low 30s.

A mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain is forecast to move into southern areas Sunday night, spreading north into early Monday. Roads may be slick during the Monday morning commute, especially in interior Downeast regions. Freezing rain will transition to plain rain by midday, with drizzle, fog and highs near 50°F expected.

Drivers should monitor updated forecasts and allow extra time for travel Monday morning.
