Bangor, Maine – Northern Maine is set to feel its first taste of summer this week, with temperatures expected to surge to 80 degrees in some inland areas by Wednesday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, skies will stay mostly sunny Tuesday and Wednesday, with high temperatures approaching 80°F across far northern counties. Bangor may reach the mid-70s, while coastal regions remain significantly cooler due to onshore breezes.
The warm spell will be short-lived. A weak chance of showers arrives Thursday with a noticeable drop in temperatures. Highs will trend cooler into the weekend, and overnight lows will dip into the 30s and 40s across much of the state, especially in interior zones.
Residents should take advantage of Wednesday’s warmth but prepare for quick changes. Light layers are recommended for cooler evenings, and drivers should be alert to patchy fog and low visibility Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning.
This marks the first 80-degree day of the spring season for the region. A stronger cold front could bring widespread showers by the weekend—more updates expected by Thursday.
