Caribou, Maine – Drivers across Downeast and interior coastal Maine should prepare for dangerous fog late Saturday night, with storms set to follow by Monday that could bring flash flooding.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, patchy showers this afternoon will clear by evening, but dense fog is expected to redevelop overnight, especially across the interior and coastal Downeast regions. Fog may reduce visibility into early Sunday, particularly before mid-morning.

Western Maine could see a few thunderstorms Sunday afternoon, but the main threat arrives Monday, when widespread showers and storms could bring heavy rainfall and localized flooding. The NWS warns that some roads may become impassable, especially in low-lying or poor-drainage areas.

High temperatures Sunday are expected to climb into the upper 70s to low 80s across much of the state, with humidity increasing ahead of Monday’s system. Residents are advised to avoid flooded roads and secure any loose outdoor items.

The National Weather Service will issue additional updates as conditions evolve. Flood Watches or Warnings may be posted ahead of Monday’s storms.
