Shreveport, La. – Triple-digit heat indices are set to grip Northern Louisiana, Northeast Texas, and Southwest Arkansas through Wednesday evening, with the most dangerous conditions between late morning and early evening. Residents across the region could feel temperatures as high as 109 degrees, making prolonged time outdoors potentially hazardous.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, a Heat Advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m., with actual air temperatures in the middle to upper 90s and humidity pushing heat index values to dangerous levels. Counties and parishes under the advisory include Caddo, Bossier, Ouachita, and Natchitoches in Louisiana; Bowie and Harrison in Texas; and Miller and Lafayette in Arkansas.

Emergency officials urge residents to stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activities, and wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing. Even those with air conditioning should take precautions, as prolonged exposure to extreme indoor heat can still be risky without adequate cooling.

This oppressive heat is expected to persist into Thursday, though conditions may slightly ease later in the week. Additional advisories are possible if humidity remains high.
