Hastings, Neb. – South-central Nebraska and parts of northern Kansas could see spotty rain overnight into early Monday morning, but most of the region will stay dry through the day as cooler-than-usual August weather continues.

According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, the best chance for measurable rain will come overnight Sunday into early Monday across southern and southwestern counties, with isolated storms possible. Northern Kansas may see lingering showers in the morning, while afternoon development could return across portions of Nebraska.

Daytime conditions Monday are expected to be partly to mostly cloudy, with light winds from the east or south. Highs will once again top out between 70 and 75 degrees, continuing a streak of below-average temperatures for late August. The NWS notes that much of the area may not reach 80 degrees until at least Friday.

Drivers across south-central Nebraska should watch for wet patches on rural roads Monday morning but can expect dry commutes for much of the day. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the cooler stretch, as late summer warmth is unlikely to return until the end of the week.
