Davenport, IA – Residents across northern Iowa should be prepared for isolated strong to severe storms tonight, with the greatest risk occurring between 7 p.m. and midnight.

According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities, storms could produce gusty winds up to 60 miles per hour, frequent lightning, and small hail. The highest risk area includes cities such as Waterloo, Dubuque, and Cedar Rapids, though surrounding communities may also experience hazardous conditions.

The storm outlook shows a Level 1 risk for severe weather, indicating isolated storms are possible. While widespread severe weather is not expected, forecasters caution that even isolated storms can still pose threats to travel, outdoor activities, and power lines.

Officials advise residents to remain weather aware this evening and to move indoors if thunder is heard. “When thunder roars, head indoors,” the NWS reminded in its alert.

Drivers in the affected region should prepare for possible delays from heavy rain or reduced visibility. Those with evening outdoor plans are encouraged to monitor forecasts and have a safe shelter nearby.

Storms are expected to weaken after midnight as they move eastward.
