According to the US National Weather Service in Des Moines, a flood watch is in effect for Central Iowa counties, starting at 7 p.m. Rainfall totals are expected to reach between 3 to 7 inches, with locally higher amounts possible. Residents are advised to prepare for flash flooding and avoid driving through flooded areas.
