Fort Wayne, Indiana – Snow will sweep into northern Indiana late Monday, creating slick roads and slowing travel from South Bend to Defiance as accumulation builds through the night and into early Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, multiple Winter Weather Advisories take effect between 4 and 7 p.m., covering areas from La Porte and Starke counties east through Allen, Adams, Jay, and into northwest Ohio. Most locations will receive 2 to 4 inches, with pockets of 5 inches possible near Fort Wayne, Van Wert, and Paulding.

Drivers along I-69, U.S. 30, and the Indiana Toll Road should expect conditions to deteriorate quickly after sunset. Roads around Warsaw, Wabash, Huntington, Auburn, and Lima may turn snow-covered by late evening as heavier bands develop. Reduced visibility and icy bridges will pose additional problems for the Tuesday morning commute.

Transportation officials urge motorists to slow down, increase following distance, and anticipate delays on untreated routes. Plow crews will work through the night, but snowfall rates may outpace early clearing efforts in several counties.

Snow will taper around daybreak Tuesday, though slick spots could persist into the midmorning hours. Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect until 7 a.m. Tuesday.
