Fort Wayne, IN – A noticeable warming trend is setting up across northern Indiana after a cool weekend, with temperatures climbing steadily into midweek, according to the National Weather Service.

According to the National Weather Service Northern Indiana, a high-pressure system will move through the region later Sunday, helping scatter clouds while keeping temperatures on the cool side. Overnight lows tonight are expected to dip into the upper teens to low 20s, with Sunday afternoon highs reaching the upper 20s to low 30s.

Conditions begin to change Monday as southerly winds develop behind the departing high-pressure system. While much of the day will remain dry, forecasters say light rain or drizzle is possible Monday night as moisture increases across the area. High temperatures Monday are forecast to reach the upper 30s to low 40s, with lows dropping into the upper teens to low 20s.

The warming trend becomes more noticeable by Tuesday, when highs are expected to climb into the mid-40s to low 50s across northern Indiana, including Allen, St. Joseph, Elkhart, and LaPorte counties. Overnight lows Tuesday night are forecast to remain above freezing in many locations, ranging from the low to upper 30s.

Forecasters say the warmer pattern is expected to continue into mid to late week, which could impact remaining snow cover and lead to wet or muddy ground conditions.

Drivers should remain cautious during early morning hours this weekend due to freezing temperatures, especially on untreated roads and bridges. Residents planning holiday travel are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts for any changes.
