FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Drivers across northern Indiana woke up to dangerous fog this Tuesday morning, cutting visibility along I-69 and U.S. 30 to a quarter mile in places. The National Weather Service warned that the advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. EDT, urging drivers to slow down, use headlights, and keep extra distance on roadways.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, dense fog is the first challenge of the day, but conditions will shift quickly. A humid air mass will fuel storm chances later today and continue into Thursday, September 25. Motorists, especially along interstates and rural highways, should stay alert for rapidly changing visibility and sudden downpours.

This afternoon brings scattered thunderstorms, especially after 3 p.m., with gusty winds and brief heavy rain possible. More widespread showers and storms develop Wednesday, bringing an 80 percent chance of rainfall to Fort Wayne. Thunderstorms could linger through Thursday morning before cooler, drier air arrives by the weekend.

Highs will hover near 80 degrees today and Wednesday before falling slightly into the mid-70s Thursday and Friday. By Saturday, skies clear and temperatures rebound toward 80, setting up a pleasant fall weekend.

Travelers should prepare for delays through midweek, secure outdoor items before storms, and avoid flooded intersections. If power outages occur, charge devices early and check in with local utilities for updates.

Storm chances fade by late Thursday, giving way to mostly sunny skies Friday and into early next week.
