Fort Wayne, IN – The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana warns residents to prepare for dangerously cold conditions overnight Thursday into early Friday, with wind chills between 0 and 10 degrees below zero.
Temperatures will dip into the single digits, with forecast lows ranging from -2°F to 4°F under clearing skies. The coldest readings are expected across Hillsdale, La Porte, and northern counties, where breezy northwest winds will make it feel even colder.
The NWS urges anyone heading outdoors to dress in layers, cover exposed skin, and limit time outside to avoid frostbite and hypothermia. Pets and livestock should also have access to warm shelter and unfrozen water.
Daytime highs Friday will stay in the mid-20s, with slightly milder air expected by Saturday. Light snow is possible over the weekend as another system moves in.
Forecasters advise monitoring local updates as temperatures remain well below freezing through early next week.
