South Bend, Ind. – Thunderstorms are expected to sweep across northern Indiana tonight and continue through Wednesday, bringing rounds of rain, thunder, and localized flooding concerns. Drivers along US 24 and in South Bend should anticipate slick roads and reduced visibility, particularly during the Wednesday morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, scattered storms will come and go overnight, with a 30 to 60 percent chance of showers continuing into Wednesday. By afternoon, rain is expected to be most concentrated near the US 24 corridor, with drier breaks possible north of South Bend. High temperatures Wednesday will reach the lower 70s, keeping conditions humid and unsettled.

Residents across Elkhart, Goshen, and Fort Wayne could see heavier downpours at times, raising the risk of ponding on roads and slow travel. Emergency managers urge drivers to allow extra travel time and avoid water-covered streets. Power outages are also possible where storms hit strongest.

The wet pattern lingers through Wednesday evening before conditions ease into late week. Additional updates and advisories may be issued as storms redevelop.
