Indiana’s air feels sharp and restless this morning, and flags are already snapping in a steady southwest breeze across Fort Wayne. Temperatures sit near 18°F, with wind chills in the single digits. Roads remain mostly dry, but changes are lining up for later today.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, southwest winds will increase this afternoon with gusts up to 35 mph. Highs climb to around 37°F under mostly cloudy skies. By this evening, light snow develops, mainly after 8 p.m., with a 30 percent chance of accumulation.

Even light snowfall can turn slick quickly when pavement temperatures hover near freezing. Drivers along I-69, US-30, and Coliseum Boulevard should watch for reduced visibility and patchy snow-covered lanes late tonight. Plan extra travel time.

Snow showers taper early Wednesday, followed by partial sunshine and a high near 36°F. Another system arrives Wednesday night into early Thursday, bringing around 1 inch of light snowfall, mainly south of US-24. Roads could become slippery again for the Thursday morning drive.

By Friday, sunshine returns with highs near 50°F, signaling a brief burst of spring warmth. Saturday stays mild near 50°F before cooler air filters back in Sunday.

Looking into early next week, temperatures trend above late-February averages across northern Indiana. Broader patterns favor a gradual warming push into early March.
