Fort Wayne, IN – Northern Indiana residents should prepare for an unsettled stretch of weather to begin the week, with scattered showers and thunderstorms expected today and periods of rain lasting into midweek.

According to the US National Weather Service Northern Indiana, rain showers and a few storms will increase in coverage early Sunday morning and again during the late afternoon and early evening. Forecasters say an isolated strong to severe storm is possible this afternoon, with damaging wind gusts as the primary threat.

High temperatures today are expected to range between 77 and 86 degrees, though conditions will begin to cool as the week progresses. On Monday, forecasters predict widespread showers with an 80% chance of rain and highs in the upper 70s. Tuesday brings a 50% chance of showers and storms, with highs between 74 and 77 degrees. By Wednesday, rain chances taper off to around 20–40%, with temperatures remaining in the low 70s.

Meteorologists caution that while widespread severe weather is not expected, isolated storms could still pose hazards. Residents are encouraged to monitor forecasts and remain alert for rapidly changing conditions, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours today.
