South Bend, Ind. – A stretch of quiet, seasonable weather is expected across northern Indiana during the spring break travel window, helping keep roads clear and travel disruptions to a minimum.
According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, northern Indiana will see near-normal temperatures from March 24 through March 30, with precipitation also trending near normal but limited in overall coverage. This pattern supports extended dry periods with only isolated, brief rain chances.
Across South Bend, Elkhart, Fort Wayne, and along the Michigan border, daytime highs will reach the upper 40s to mid-50s, with mornings dipping into the 30s. Major routes including I-80/90 (Indiana Toll Road), I-69, and U.S. 31 are expected to remain mostly dry, supporting steady regional travel.
Drivers should remain aware of patchy morning fog and occasional damp spots on shaded roads, especially in low-lying areas, but widespread hazards are not expected. Daytime travel will offer the best visibility and road conditions.
For baseball fans across northern Indiana, including those following the Cubs and White Sox, the opening stretch of the season should feature manageable weather, with light jackets likely sufficient.
This stable pattern is expected to hold through late March, with only minor changes possible heading into early April.
