South Bend, Indiana – The window for meaningful snowfall is rapidly closing across northern Indiana, with warmer temperatures now taking hold and signaling a clear shift into spring conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, the region has already passed its average last measurable snowfall date, which typically falls around late March to early April. Cities like South Bend and Fort Wayne historically see their final accumulating snow by early April, though rare late-season events have occurred into May.

This year, above-normal temperatures are expected to persist through the next couple of weeks, greatly reducing the likelihood of any significant snow. While brief flurries cannot be ruled out if overnight temperatures dip below freezing, impactful accumulation is no longer expected this season.

Communities across northern Indiana, southwest Michigan, and northwest Ohio can expect more consistent spring conditions, with improving travel and fewer winter-related hazards on major roadways like I-80/90 and US-31.

Residents should shift focus to spring weather preparedness, including severe storm awareness as the season progresses. Additional updates will follow if any unusual late-season cold snaps develop.
