Syracuse, IN – Northern Indiana residents should prepare for potentially slick roads overnight into Wednesday morning as melted snow refreezes with temperatures dipping near or just below freezing, according to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana.
Forecasters said lows tonight will range between 29°F and 34°F, creating a risk for icy patches—especially on secondary and untreated roads. Motorists are urged to use caution during the Wednesday morning commute.
Conditions will gradually improve through the week, with temperatures warming back to seasonable levels by Friday. Wednesday’s highs are expected to reach 42°F to 50°F, followed by upper 40s to mid-50s Thursday, and a much milder 54°F to 62°F by the end of the week.
The weather service says the region should stay dry through Friday, helping roads clear as sunshine returns.
Drivers are reminded to allow extra travel time and reduce speeds in the early morning hours when surfaces could still be slick from refreeze.
